Some of the manual therapy services listed above may need some further explanation:

Soft tissue techniques / mobilization: Procedures applied primarily to muscles and tendons consisting of deep pressure, stretching and traction designed to relax hypertonic (tight) muscles and myofascial layers associated with somatic dysfunction.

Myofascial Release: A procedure designed to treat the myofascial structures. Techniques may engage the restrictive barrier directly via a prolonged constant force or indirectly via guiding dysfunctional tissues along the path of least resistance until freedom of movement is achieved.

Muscle Energy Techniques: The patient’s body is placed in a precise position and then guided to use his or her muscles in a specific direction against a counterforce applied by the therapist. The purpose is to improve mobility, restore motion and/or decrease muscle hypertonicity.

Counterstrain Technique: A positional technique in which the patient is moved passively away from the restrictive barrier or pain, towards the position of greatest comfort. This technique quiets abnormal neural signals and resets the proproiceptors and neruomuscular tension.

Cranial-sacral therapy: an osteopathic technique utilizing very subtle movements to influence the structure and fluid surrounding the central nervous system.

Graston Technique:  “Graston Technique® is an evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively address scar tissue and fascial restrictions through comprehensive training, resulting in improved patient outcomes. The technique uses specially-designed stainless steel instruments, along with appropriate therapeutic exercise, to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. The instruments also are used diagnostically to follow the kinetic chain, to locate and treat the cause of the symptom as well as the specific area of pain.”

Active Release Technique: “ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.” “Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.”                                                                     These treatment protocols – over 500 specific moves – are unique to ART. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. ART is not a cookie-cutter approach.

All treatment sessions are conducted in PRIVATE treatment rooms & focus on the following stages of recovery:

INITIAL Corrective Phase • Decrease Pain & Inflammation, Reduce Muscular Spasms
• Promote healing, Improve posture
• Patient education.

RESTORE & STABILIZE • Recover pain free range of motion, enhance flexibility
• Turn on joint proprioceptors, normalize movement patterns
• Improve neuromuscular feedback, return joint stability.

REBUILD & STRENGTHEN • Increase muscle strength in all three planes,
• Improve coordination, retrain balance and functional movement.

And for some, Performance & Fitness: Advance strength training programs, cardiovascular training, skill development and sport specific performance enhancement.

All treatments are offered in private room settings: Here are just a few of them.
